Keema

A great one pot camp dinner, can be made with ground lamb too. A traditional Pakistani dish, pronounced “Kima”
Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 Kg ground beef or lamb
- 1.25 Kg potatoes (diced)
- 4 medium tomatoes (diced)
- 1 small packet frozen peas
- 1 tablespoons curry powder
- I clove garlic, crushed (optional)
- 1 cm ginger (teaspoon), crushed (optional)
Method
Melt butter in pan with good fitting lid, and fry onions and then near the end, add the garlic
Add mince and brown. Stir in curry powder, tomatoes, potatoes and peas
Cover with lid, and lower temperature and simmer for twenty minutes. Stir occasionally
No extra water is usually needed, but add a little if too dry, judgement is needed
Serve with crisp salad of extra steamed veges. Traditionally served on rice with a Roti (unleavened thin flat bread)
